Hello! I'm Diana Vázquez — a multidisciplinary artist and illustrator from Mexico, currently based in Toronto.
My work is rooted in a deep fascination with the poetry of the natural world: animals, plants, textures, quiet moments, and the unseen rhythms that surround us. I create symbolic, often whimsical worlds where emotion, colour, and story intertwine.
Before dedicating myself fully to art, I studied Computer Systems Engineering, practiced mountaineering for over five years, studied photography for two, and completed a master’s in Coaching and Leadership. Each of these paths shaped how I observe, feel, and build images — with structure, curiosity, and deep attention to detail.
I work across linocut printmaking, watercolour, gouache, coloured pencils, embroidery, and digital illustration — always exploring how the organic and the imaginary merge. Whether carving a block or painting delicate washes, I aim to create pieces that feel intimate, textured, and quietly narrative.
My practice moves between two paths: the tactile and intuitive world of printmaking, and the more playful, story-driven world of illustration. Both nourish my curiosity and inform one another.
I hold a diploma in Illustration from Seneca College (Toronto), where I received the Best in Show Award at the Graduate Exhibition. My work has been exhibited in art markets and group shows in Toronto and Mexico, and I also teach workshops, sharing the joy of creating by hand.
Through my work, I hope to offer small portals of tenderness and imagination — invitations to pause, to reconnect with nature, and to rediscover the symbolic language of the everyday.
